Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Chief Risk Management, the Risk and Compliance Specialist will support the Integrated Risk Management team in strengthening risk management and compliance efforts in the WCA Regional Office and WCA Region. This role specifically focuses on implementing partnership management as it relates to both programme and operations. The specialist will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of risk data, consolidating and analyzing regional risk trends, and enhancing risk management capabilities at the country level. Additionally, the position involves control testing, reviews, supporting assurance activities, and standardizing tools and methodologies for risk monitoring and reporting across countries.
Responsibilities
Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks include: 1. Risk Data Quality and Integrity Assurance: Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of risk data collected across the region. 2. Consolidation and Analysis of Regional Risk Trends: Identifying patterns and emerging risks within the West and Central Africa Region. 3. Strengthen Capability and Quality of Risk Management at Country Level: Providing support and guidance to country offices to enhance their risk management practices. 4. Control Testing and Reviews: Conducting assessments of internal controls to ensure their effectiveness. 5. Support Assurance Activities: Assisting in various assurance processes to provide independent verification. 6. Standardization of Tools and Methodologies: Developing and implementing consistent approaches to risk management. 7. Monitoring of Risk Actions Across Countries: Tracking the implementation of risk mitigation strategies. 8. Strengthen Risk Reporting at Regional Level: Improving the quality and timeliness of risk reports. 9. Early Warning Signals at Regional Level: Developing mechanisms to identify potential risks proactively.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of continuous professional work experience in Risk and Compliance, programme development/management, or another directly relevant area, with several years in internal audit.
