Job Purpose
The Child Protection Officer reports to the Chief of Field Office for supervision. The role provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programs and projects within the Country Programme, from development planning to delivery of results. This includes support in Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) programming. The incumbent prepares, executes, manages, and implements a variety of technical and administrative program tasks to facilitate program development, implementation, progress monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programs, in advocacy, and in operations. Responsibilities
The Child Protection Officer supports programme development and planning. This involves conducting research and analysis on child protection issues, contributing to the development of programme strategies, and preparing relevant documentation. The officer also supports programme implementation by monitoring progress, identifying challenges, and recommending adjustments. This includes coordinating with government counterparts, implementing partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of child protection services. The role involves managing and implementing a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations. The officer is responsible for preparing regular progress reports, evaluating programme outcomes, and contributing to the overall reporting requirements of the Country Programme. Additionally, the officer provides technical support and guidance on child protection in emergencies (CPiE) programming, ensuring that vulnerable children are protected during crisis situations. The position requires active participation in inter-agency coordination meetings and contributing to the development of joint work plans and strategies for child protection.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in child protection, social work, or a related field is required. Experience in programme management and implementation, particularly in developing countries or emergency settings, is an asset.
