Job Purpose
The Programme Specialist will provide strategic and technical leadership for UNICEF Ecuador's programme pillar on Climate Change, WASH, and Emergency Preparedness. The role aims to drive climate-resilient, risk-informed, and sustainable solutions for children by strengthening national and subnational systems, advancing climate-responsive policies, and enhancing preparedness for humanitarian and climate-related risks. This involves close collaboration with government, international financial institutions, the private sector, and civil society to ensure children's needs are central to climate action, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable WASH services.
Responsibilities
The Programme Specialist will be responsible for Knowledge Management for Programmes, Programme Development and Management, and ensuring the Optimum Use of Programme Funds. This includes overseeing Programme Monitoring and Evaluations, and applying a Rights-Based and Results-Based Programme Management Approach. Key accountabilities also involve National and Local Capacity Building/Sustainability, promoting a Rights Perspective and Advocacy at the National, Community, and Family Levels, and fostering Partnership, Coordination, and Collaboration with various stakeholders. The role also entails Leadership and Team Management, contributing to the overall strategic objectives of UNICEF Ecuador in climate change, WASH, and emergency preparedness.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH), Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction (CEED), social policy, planning and management, or finances is required.
