The Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Division works with National Committees and UNICEF Regional and Country Offices to maximize income and influence from the private sector. The Latin America and Caribbean Regional Office (LACRO) provides strategic and technical support to Country Offices in the Region.
Job Purpose
The Market Development Specialist (P-3) will play a key role in driving private sector fundraising, strategic partnerships, and resource mobilization initiatives that support UNICEF's mission across Latin America and the Caribbean. This role involves working with country offices, regional leaders, and global teams to identify growth opportunities, foster innovation, strengthen donor engagement, and maximize sustainable resources for lasting change for children. The specialist will contribute to the strategic development of private sector fundraising and engagement, advise on net income growth and funding diversification, and facilitate the dissemination of global PFP strategies. The position aims to accelerate private sector revenue growth, programmatic results, and Country Office sustainability through innovative approaches and strengthened partnerships.
Responsibilities
The Market Development Specialist will participate in the strategic development of private sector fundraising (PSFR) and broader private sector engagement and resource mobilization across LAC PSFR Country Offices (COs) and emerging CO operations. They will support the maximization of results from private sector fundraising by contributing to a conducive environment and enablers for Fundraising and Partnerships, and aligning Private Sector Plans (PSPs) with country programme planning processes. The role involves advising PFP Managers/Specialists and COs to identify and implement opportunities for net income growth, funding diversification, and enhanced efficiencies. The specialist will facilitate the dissemination and implementation of global PFP strategies, policies, procedures, and guidance across COs within the regional context, and identify and promote fundraising innovation and new approaches to partnerships to accelerate private sector revenue growth, programmatic results, and CO sustainability. Additionally, the role includes providing technical support to COs in developing and implementing PSPs, contributing to the optimization of fundraising investments and budgeting, monitoring and analyzing PSFR performance across COs, and contributing to the strengthening of planning and financial monitoring systems. The specialist will also facilitate knowledge sharing and documentation of lessons learned across COs and with the global private sector network.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in private sector fundraising, business development, strategic partnerships, or resource mobilization is required. Experience in the non-profit sector or with international organizations is an asset.
