Job Purpose

The Health Manager, reporting to the Chief of Health and HIV, plays a crucial role in supporting the management of the Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) Portfolio within the health section. This position involves leading the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of MNCAH outputs aligned with the country programme. The Health Manager will provide essential technical guidance and operational support throughout the programming cycle, ensuring the achievement of concrete and sustainable results. This is accomplished through adherence to established plans, allocations, and results-based management (RBM) approaches and methodologies, contributing directly to UNICEF's mission of advocating for every child.

Responsibilities

The Health Manager is accountable for several key functions including programme development and planning, ensuring that MNCAH initiatives are strategically designed and aligned with UNICEF's goals. They will manage the day-to-day programme activities, monitor progress, and ensure the timely delivery of results, adhering to RBM principles. Providing advisory services and technical support to stakeholders, including government counterparts and partners, is critical for strengthening national health systems. The role also involves active advocacy, networking, and partnership building with relevant organizations to enhance the reach and impact of MNCAH interventions. Furthermore, the Health Manager will drive innovation, foster knowledge management within the team and among partners, and contribute to capacity building efforts for national health personnel and institutions. This includes leading the management, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the MNCAH output within the country programme, ensuring alignment with overall health section objectives and country programme strategies.

Work Experience

A minimum of eight years of professional experience is required in areas such as public health planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, communicable diseases (HIV, TB, malaria), or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
