ICare Consultant to support with Global Country Workshop - OSE, Data & Analytics, Florence, 3 Months, (Remote/Work from home)

Job Purpose

This consultancy supports the Child Protection and Development Data Unit (CPDD) within UNICEF's Office of Strategy and Evidence - Innocenti. The role focuses on alternative care of children, addressing the challenge of children in alternative care being frequently missing in official statistics. The consultancy will provide crucial support for the preparation, delivery, and follow-up of an in-person country workshop. This workshop is a key component of the next phase of work aimed at ensuring the effective and strategic implementation and rollout of the International Classification of Alternative Care of Children (ICare) within national statistical systems, a significant milestone for global statistical standards related to children.

Responsibilities

The consultant will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to the Child Protection and Development Data Unit (CPDD) in the Office of Strategy and Evidence - Innocenti. This includes the meticulous preparation of an in-person country workshop focused on the implementation of the International Classification of Alternative Care of Children (ICare). The consultant will play a vital role in the delivery of this workshop, ensuring effective facilitation and engagement with multistakeholder groups. Post-workshop, the consultant will manage and execute follow-up activities to reinforce the learning and implementation of ICare within national statistical systems. This involves working with relevant stakeholder groups on issues pertaining to care reform, child protection systems, and social service workforce strengthening. The consultant will leverage their knowledge of existing international frameworks and guidelines related to alternative care of children, including ICare, to guide these efforts. Additionally, the consultant will be expected to contribute to strengthening the availability, quality, and comparability of data and indicators on children in alternative care across countries, addressing the current challenges in standardization and comparability.

Work Experience

At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in conducting international research in the broad area of child protection and/or children’s rights.

Experience with relevant stakeholder groups on care reform, child protection systems, and social service workforce strengthening, Experience planning, delivering, and facilitating workshops with multistakeholder groups, Knowledge of international frameworks and guidelines related to alternative care of children, including ICare, Excellent written communication skills, Excellent interpersonal skills, Ability to work in a multicultural environment, Ability to establish harmonious and effective relationships with partners, Strong time management skills, Ability to adhere to deadlines
