Job Purpose
UNICEF Ethiopia is strengthening its data management architecture to improve evidence-based decision-making, real-time monitoring, and accountability to affected populations, especially in hard-to-reach and emergency-affected areas. The Country Office seeks to engage a Multisectoral and WASH Data Management Specialist to design, deploy, and maintain integrated data management solutions for WASH and related sectoral interventions at national and sub-national levels. This role is crucial for enhancing the effectiveness of multisectoral programming in Ethiopia, which increasingly depends on timely, accurate, and accessible data to guide planning, monitor results, target vulnerable populations, and support rapid emergency response.
Responsibilities
The consultant will support the development of digital data collection tools, online and remote-access systems, geospatial analysis, interactive dashboards, visual reporting products, and interoperable data export processes aligned with UNICEF-approved and government information systems. The assignment will also focus on strengthening data quality, harmonization, secure data handling, and the practical use of program information for management, reporting, advocacy, and donor engagement. This includes designing and implementing data management solutions, developing digital tools for data collection, establishing online and remote-access systems, conducting geospatial analysis, creating interactive dashboards and visual reporting products, and ensuring interoperable data export processes. The role will also involve enhancing data quality assurance, promoting data harmonization, implementing secure data handling protocols, and facilitating the practical application of program information for various stakeholders.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in data management, information management, or a related field.
