Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Chief of Field Office, Yambio, and with technical support from the Supply and Logistics section in Juba, the Temporary Appointment (TA) Supply and Logistics Officer will support timely and accountable supply chain operations for UNICEF’s EVD preparedness and response. The incumbent will contribute to supply planning, procurement follow-up, warehousing, inventory management, fleet and transport coordination, distribution, last-mile delivery monitoring, partner support and regular reporting on stocks, pipeline, risks and delivery progress. The role will work across health facilities, points of entry, community-based response sites, partner warehouses and other priority locations to ensure proper receipt, storage, documentation, allocation, dispatch and monitoring of UNICEF-provided emergency supplies. The position will also support preparedness actions, including pre-positioning, readiness checks, supplier and market mapping, contingency planning and practical improvements to field supply tracking and reporting tools. Frequent travel to high-risk counties, border areas, health facilities, warehouses and points of entry will be required.

Responsibilities

The Supply & Logistics Officer will be responsible for EVD supply planning, coordination, and surge response support. This includes managing warehousing, inventory, and last-mile distribution of essential supplies. The role involves close collaboration with programmes, Government counterparts, and implementing partners to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services. Key duties also encompass monitoring supply chain activities, ensuring accountability, and driving continuous improvement in logistics operations. The officer will oversee the receipt, storage, documentation, allocation, dispatch, and monitoring of UNICEF-provided emergency supplies across various locations such as health facilities, points of entry, and partner warehouses. Additionally, the position will support preparedness actions like pre-positioning of supplies, conducting readiness checks, mapping suppliers and markets, developing contingency plans, and enhancing field supply tracking and reporting tools. Regular travel to high-risk counties, border areas, health facilities, warehouses, and points of entry is anticipated to ensure operational oversight and support.

Work Experience

Experience in supply chain operations, particularly in emergency contexts, is essential. Familiarity with warehousing, inventory management, and last-mile distribution is also required. Experience working with government and implementing partners is beneficial.
