Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Supply & Logistics Manager, the Logistics Specialist coordinates and provides technical oversight for logistics, warehousing and distribution operations for UNICEF South Sudan Country Office. The role supports the effective movement, storage and delivery of supplies across the country programme and emergency response, including inbound shipment coordination, customs clearance, warehousing, inventory management, transport planning, last-mile distribution and logistics contract management. The Logistics Specialist works closely with supply, programme, operations, field office colleagues, government counterparts, implementing partners and service providers to ensure timely, efficient, accountable and fit-for-purpose logistics support for results for children.
Responsibilities
The Logistics Specialist coordinates and provides technical oversight for logistics, warehousing and distribution operations for UNICEF South Sudan Country Office. The role supports the effective movement, storage and delivery of supplies across the country programme and emergency response, including inbound shipment coordination, customs clearance, warehousing, inventory management, transport planning, last-mile distribution and logistics contract management. The Logistics Specialist works closely with supply, programme, operations, field office colleagues, government counterparts, implementing partners and service providers to ensure timely, efficient, accountable and fit-for-purpose logistics support for results for children. Key responsibilities include: coordinating supply chain service delivery and emergency response; managing logistics and transport; overseeing warehouse and inventory management; collaborating with programme and implementing partners; providing technical and advisory support to government/national systems; and ensuring effective supply chain service delivery during emergencies.
Work Experience
5 years of relevant work experience in Supply Management/Contracting/Logistics, logistics management, supply chain management, warehouse management, inventory management, transport management, customs compliance, emergency response, or humanitarian operations.
