Job Purpose
The Education Officer will support UNICEF's mission to ensure the right to education for every child. This role is crucial in developing, planning, and implementing education programs that address the needs of children, particularly those most disadvantaged. The officer will contribute to the realization of children's rights by providing technical and operational support, fostering partnerships, and driving innovation in education delivery. The position aims to enhance program management, monitoring, and delivery of results, ensuring that UNICEF's education initiatives are effective and impactful in achieving positive outcomes for children in Papua New Guinea.
Responsibilities
The Education Officer will be responsible for supporting programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals and the specific needs of the country. This includes conducting research, needs assessments, and contributing to the formulation of education strategies. The role involves programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results, tracking progress, identifying challenges, and implementing corrective actions to ensure timely and effective program execution. Providing technical and operational support to programme implementation is key, offering guidance to partners and stakeholders. Networking and partnership building with government, NGOs, and other UN agencies will be essential to leverage resources and enhance program reach. Furthermore, the officer will drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the education sector, sharing best practices and promoting learning among stakeholders. This includes documenting program achievements and lessons learned to inform future programming and advocacy efforts.
Work Experience
At least 1 year of relevant work experience in Education, education program management, program planning, monitoring and evaluation, partnership management, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, knowledge management, resource mobilization, advocacy, or field operations.
