Job Purpose
The WASH Cluster Coordinator (Manager) will provide leadership and representation for the WASH Cluster in Ukraine. This role is crucial for facilitating processes that ensure a well-coordinated, strategic, adequate, coherent, and effective response by cluster participants. The coordinator will be accountable to those affected by the emergency, working to improve the collective impact of humanitarian response. As a member of the IASC, the position involves collaboration with national and local stakeholders, including authorities, CSOs, and communities. UNICEF, as the Cluster Lead Agency for WASH, is committed to fulfilling core functions defined by the IASC, ensuring a robust and responsive humanitarian coordination mechanism.
Responsibilities
The WASH Cluster Coordinator (Manager) will lead and represent the WASH Cluster, ensuring a coordinated, strategic, and effective response to the humanitarian crisis. This involves facilitating cluster meetings, developing and implementing cluster strategies, and ensuring accountability to affected populations. The role requires close collaboration with national and local stakeholders, including government bodies, civil society organizations, and communities, to enhance collective humanitarian impact. The coordinator will manage the cluster coordination team, ensuring it functions effectively as a formal deliverable of the Cluster Lead Agency. Key responsibilities include advocating for the needs of affected populations, identifying gaps in the response, and mobilizing resources. The position also entails monitoring the humanitarian situation, reporting on progress, and contributing to inter-agency coordination efforts at both country and global levels, aligning with UNICEF's commitment to its programmatic responsibilities and the IASC's framework.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in humanitarian affairs, WASH programming, or cluster coordination, with at least two years in an international setting. Experience in emergency response and complex humanitarian contexts is essential.
