Job Purpose
The Social & Behavior Change Officer will contribute to the design, management, monitoring, and evaluation of evidence-based, inclusive, and innovative Social and Behavior Change (SBC) strategies, particularly in emergency preparedness and response contexts. This role involves generating and utilizing research, data, and evidence to inform SBC program design and outcomes, and to build the evidence base for SBC interventions. The officer will implement SBC activities grounded in social and behavioral evidence and strong participatory mechanisms, supporting operationalization through advocacy, resource mobilization, coordination, and partnership building. A key aspect is promoting continuous learning and scaling up SBC approaches through capacity building for UNICEF staff and partners.
Responsibilities
Generate and utilize research, data, and evidence to inform the design, measurement, and monitoring of SBC programs and outcomes in emergency contexts, contributing to the overall evidence base for SBC. Design, plan, and implement SBC activities that are evidence-based and incorporate strong engagement and participation mechanisms, specifically within emergency and humanitarian settings. Support the operationalization of SBC strategies by actively advocating for SBC, mobilizing necessary resources, coordinating effectively across various stakeholders, sectors, and internal teams, and fostering robust partnerships. Promote continuous learning, strengthening, and scaling up of SBC approaches for both emergency and humanitarian contexts through targeted capacity building initiatives for UNICEF staff and implementing partners. Contribute to the development and refinement of SBC methodologies and tools relevant to emergency response and preparedness. Ensure that SBC interventions are inclusive, culturally sensitive, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable children and communities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years' relevant work experience in Social and Behavior Change, Communication for Development, community engagement, humanitarian and emergency response, behavioral research, monitoring and evaluation, program planning, partnership management, or capacity building is required.
