Job Purpose

The Child Protection Specialist will support the development and implementation of child protection programmes within the country. This role involves managing, implementing, monitoring, reporting, and evaluating child protection programmes and projects, providing technical guidance and management support throughout the process. The specialist will contribute to national and international efforts to create a protective environment for children, safeguarding them from all forms of harm and ensuring their rights to survival, development, and well-being, as outlined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international frameworks. The position contributes to achieving programme results aligned with UNICEF's Strategic Plans and performance frameworks.

Responsibilities

Support the development and planning of child protection programmes and projects, ensuring alignment with country needs and UNICEF strategies. Manage, monitor, and deliver results for child protection programmes and projects, adhering to results-based management principles. Provide essential technical and operational support throughout the implementation of programmes. Foster networking and build partnerships with government bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance child protection efforts. Drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the child protection sector. Ensure adherence to and promotion of policies related to Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and Safeguarding. Contribute to advocacy efforts for the rights of children and the establishment of protective environments. Monitor and evaluate programme effectiveness, making recommendations for improvement. Prepare regular reports on programme progress and outcomes. Facilitate the administration and achievement of concrete and sustainable contributions to national and international child protection initiatives.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in areas such as International Development, Human Rights, Child Protection, Programme Management, Programme Development, Monitoring, Reporting, Evaluation, Advocacy, Capacity Building, Partnership Building, Safeguarding, and Gender-Based Violence.
