Job Purpose

The Programme Manager will be responsible for coordinating and managing programmes, focusing on monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to ensure effective implementation and achievement of results. This role involves representing UNICEF and fostering partnerships and communication with stakeholders. The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment into action. Investing in the health, education, and protection of disadvantaged citizens addresses inequity, giving all children the opportunity to fulfill their potential and leading to sustained growth and stability of countries. This role is crucial in supporting the equitable development of Nigeria by fulfilling and protecting children's rights in partnership with the government, civil society, children, and families.

Responsibilities

The Programme Manager will oversee project coordination, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and equity focus. Key responsibilities include robust monitoring, evaluation, and reporting mechanisms to track progress and impact. The role demands effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders, representing UNICEF in relevant forums, and building strong partnerships. Communication is vital, both internally and externally, to advocate for children's rights and programme goals. The manager will be expected to lead diverse and multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment. Managing large-budgeted, multi-sector programmes and ensuring timely delivery against work plans and tight deadlines are critical. Demonstrated ability in donor reporting and applying results-based management principles are essential. The position requires a deep understanding of development and humanitarian issues, strategies, and programming policies within international development cooperation, particularly in emergency/humanitarian settings.

Work Experience

A minimum of eight years of professional work experience at international levels in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration. Specialized training/experience in resilience/nexus/Durable Solutions programme management, particularly in joint UN initiatives, is highly desirable.
