Job Purpose

The Vaccine Management and Cold Chain Logistics Specialist (VMCCL) will ensure effective coordination and implementation of vaccine management and cold chain activities in supported provinces for routine immunization, SIAs, and outbreak response. The role aims to deliver measurable improvements in vaccine availability, stock management, forecasting, and timely distribution. It also focuses on cold chain equipment functionality, preventive maintenance, temperature monitoring, data quality, reporting performance, campaign waste management, and capacity building of provincial EPI teams. Expected results include reduced stock-out days, improved stock record accuracy, better forecast accuracy, increased cold chain equipment functionality, higher coverage of continuous temperature monitoring, improved reporting, and strengthened provincial capacity.

Responsibilities

Ensure effective coordination and implementation of vaccine management and cold chain activities in supported provinces for routine immunization, SIAs, and outbreak response. Deliver measurable improvements in vaccine availability, stock management, forecasting, and timely distribution. Oversee cold chain equipment functionality and preventive maintenance. Manage temperature monitoring and excursions. Ensure data quality and reporting performance. Implement campaign waste management strategies. Build the capacity of provincial EPI teams. Track expected results through clear indicators including reduced stock-out days and vaccine wastage rates for tracer antigens. Improve stock record accuracy and routine inventory reconciliation. Enhance forecast accuracy and delivery performance (e.g., DIFOT and reduced lead times). Increase cold chain equipment functionality and shorten repair times. Ensure higher coverage of continuous temperature monitoring with documented corrective actions for excursions. Improve completeness, timeliness, and consistency of reporting. Strengthen provincial capacity evidenced by training/coaching delivered, supportive supervision visits conducted, and timely closure of action plans. Work under the supervision and technical guidance of the Immunization Supply Chain Manager.

Work Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in vaccine/cold chain management, public health/immunization, and health emergencies in developing countries. Proven experience in coordinating field teams, integrated approaches, routine immunization, campaigns, and vaccine logistics.
