Job Purpose

The Child Protection Officer (Violence Against Children/Justice) will report to the Child Protection Specialist, providing professional technical, operational, and administrative support throughout the child protection programming process within the Country Programme. This role involves preparing, executing, managing, and implementing a variety of technical and administrative tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, progress monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. The incumbent will contribute to UNICEF's fundamental mission of promoting the rights of every child, everywhere, in all aspects of the organization's work, aligning with the equity strategy to reach the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families. This position is crucial for ensuring that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop, and reach their full potential without discrimination.

Responsibilities

The Child Protection Officer will support programme development and planning by conducting situation analyses and contributing to the formulation of programme strategies. They will manage programme implementation, monitor progress, and ensure the delivery of results, adhering to UNICEF's standards and guidelines. The role involves providing technical and operational support to partners and stakeholders involved in child protection initiatives, ensuring effective execution of project activities. Networking and partnership building are key, requiring the officer to engage with government counterparts, NGOs, and other UN agencies to foster collaboration and resource mobilization. Furthermore, the officer will contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the child protection sector, sharing best practices and lessons learned. This includes documenting programme activities, results, and challenges, and contributing to reports for internal and external stakeholders. The officer will also be responsible for managing programme resources effectively and ensuring accountability throughout the programme cycle.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in social development planning and management, specifically in child protection-related areas, is required.
