Job Purpose
The Nutrition Manager will lead one of UNICEF Philippines' largest and most innovative nutrition programmes. Reporting to the Chief of Health and Nutrition, this role provides strategic and technical leadership to enhance maternal and child nutrition, tackle all forms of malnutrition including overweight and obesity, and bolster government-led systems strengthening. The position involves leading a multidisciplinary team of 12 professionals and managing a broad portfolio encompassing policy and governance, legislative advocacy, nutrition financing, systems strengthening, social and behaviour change, and emergency preparedness and response. The manager will also oversee UNICEF's strategic partnership with the Department of Health, ensuring effective collaboration and program delivery to improve nutritional outcomes for children and communities.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic and technical leadership for UNICEF Philippines' nutrition programme, ensuring alignment with national priorities and global best practices. Oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of nutrition interventions, including maternal and child nutrition, prevention and management of all forms of malnutrition, and addressing the rising prevalence of overweight and obesity. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary nutrition team of 12 staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Develop and implement strategies for strengthening national and sub-national nutrition systems, including policy development, legislative advocacy, and nutrition financing. Drive social and behaviour change initiatives to promote positive nutrition practices and outcomes. Ensure effective emergency preparedness and response mechanisms for nutrition-related crises. Manage and strengthen strategic partnerships with the Department of Health, other government agencies, civil society organizations, and development partners. Oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of nutrition projects, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of results and effective utilization of resources. Contribute to resource mobilization efforts for the nutrition programme. Represent UNICEF in relevant national and international forums and working groups related to nutrition.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in nutrition, public health, or a related field, with at least two years at the international level. Experience in programme management, policy development, and working with government counterparts is essential. Experience in emergency settings is an asset.
