Job Purpose
This post reports to the Finance Specialist and performs specific accounting functions related to Private Sector Fundraising in the India Country Office. The role has a strong focus on financial management, systems strengthening, compliance, and operational efficiency. It supports the application of UNICEF's 3Cs (Convene, Converge, and Catalyze) for Every Child approach. The Senior Finance Associate is responsible for managing daily banking transactions, ensuring compliance with procedures, and processing donations. This includes verifying reports from banks and processing agencies, coordinating with the internal donation processing team for accurate recording and timely batch processing, and registering donations in VISION. The role also involves preparing monthly analysis of Bank General Ledger accounts and manual clearing entries for the Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS) for submission to the Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) according to the monthly closure schedule, and following up on reconciling items for timely clearance.
Responsibilities
Monitor and manage daily banking transactions for donations received, ensuring compliance with established procedures and norms. Verify various reports from banks and processing agencies for direct credits and cash deposits on a daily basis. Coordinate with the in-house donation processing team for proper recording of donations, timely processing of batches, and registering them in VISION. Prepare monthly analysis of Bank General Ledger (GL) accounts and manual clearing entries for the Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS) for submission to the Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) as per the monthly closure schedule. Follow up on reconciling items appearing in the BRS for timely clearance. Manage deposits of all refunds and recoveries for the India Country Office and field offices as per established procedures. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting related to private sector fundraising. Support the Finance Specialist in strengthening financial management systems and ensuring compliance with UNICEF's financial regulations and policies. Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Contribute to improving operational efficiency within the finance function. Support the implementation of financial controls and risk management measures.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in finance, accounting, or a related field is required. Experience in a UN or international organization is an asset.
