Job Purpose
The Education Officer, reporting to the Chief Education or Education Specialist, will support the implementation of the 2026-27 work plan and provide technical, operational, and administrative assistance for Digital Education projects. This role involves researching, collecting, and analyzing data to inform policy and programme development, ensuring alignment with organizational procedures. The officer will contribute to setting Digital Education goals and objectives, preparing documentation for programme reviews, and monitoring results-based planning. The position requires active engagement in programme management, monitoring, and evaluation, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of results and efficient use of resources. The role also involves providing technical support to counterparts and partners on UNICEF policies and best practices in education.
Responsibilities
Support the development and planning of the Digital Education programme by conducting situation analyses and assessments to gather evidence-based data for policy and programme formulation. Contribute to setting Digital Education goals, objectives, and strategies through research and analysis of education-related information. Provide technical and administrative support throughout the programming process by executing transactions, preparing documentation, and adhering to organizational processes for planning, RBM, and M&E. Prepare necessary documents for programme review and approval. Manage and monitor programme delivery, collaborating with colleagues and partners to analyze implementation issues and suggest solutions. Report on critical issues and bottlenecks to management for timely intervention. Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, preparing reports for follow-up actions. Monitor and report on the use of programme resources, ensuring compliance with allocations, rules, and donor commitments, and reporting any issues for resolution. Prepare draft inputs for programme and donor reporting. Undertake field visits and surveys to assess progress and report on critical issues. Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGOs, UN partners, and donors on UNICEF policies, strategies, and best practices in education and digital education. Build and sustain partnerships with government and national stakeholders through information and knowledge sharing to facilitate programme implementation.
Work Experience
At least two years of professional experience in education programming, with a focus on digital education. Experience in programme planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation is required. Experience working with government counterparts and international organizations is desirable.
