Job Purpose
The Communication Officer, based in the Ankara office, is a member of the Türkiye Country Office and reports to the Communication Manager. This role assists in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating an advocacy and communication strategy to bring children’s and women’s issues into the public domain. The objective is to strengthen political will in support of UNICEF's mission and objectives in the country, and to enhance the organization’s credibility and brand. The position ensures timely execution and follow-up of communication product and material production to support country communication strategy, regional and global campaigns, and resource mobilization efforts as outlined in the work plan.
Responsibilities
The Communication Officer provides effective and timely professional assistance and support in developing, drafting, and maintaining contact information, materials, and relationships with journalists and media outlets across print, TV, radio, and web platforms. This facilitates communicating UNICEF's cooperation story to a wider audience. Regular monitoring and evaluation activities are undertaken according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country communication efforts, with timely preparation and sharing of results and reports. The role ensures the Country Office’s contact list of individuals, groups, organizations, and fora (including Government, UN, and bilateral counterparts) is maintained and developed. These contacts are essential for achieving advocacy and communication objectives and for supporting special events and activities that further country programme goals. The incumbent also supervises and follows up on the production and qualitative monitoring of information and communication materials, and assists in organizing special events in consultation with government counterparts, community, and partners to support programme delivery.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media is required. Field work experience and familiarity with emergency situations are also required.
