Job Purpose
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is a UN Agency mandated to advocate for and protect children's rights, ensuring they meet basic needs and achieve their full potential. In The Gambia, UNICEF focuses on ensuring vulnerable children and adolescents have access to quality health, nutrition, water, sanitation, education, and protection services. Responsibilities
This internship focuses on AI and Digital Innovation within UNICEF's operations in The Gambia. The intern will support initiatives related to emerging technologies, digital transformation, and data analysis to enhance child-focused programs. Responsibilities include assisting in research on AI applications for development, contributing to the development of digital tools and platforms, and supporting data management and analysis efforts. The intern will also help in documenting innovation projects, preparing presentations on findings, and collaborating with team members on various digital initiatives. A key aspect will be learning about and applying responsible AI principles, including privacy, data protection, transparency, inclusion, fairness, and ethical technology use. The role involves actively participating in team meetings, contributing to project planning, and supporting the implementation of digital solutions to address challenges faced by children and adolescents in The Gambia, aligning with UNICEF's mandate and the SDGs.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is required, but prior exposure to data analysis, dashboards, coding, automation, prompt development, research, digital learning, or innovation projects is considered an asset.
