Job Purpose

The Child Protection Officer will provide professional technical, operational, and administrative support to the child protection programs and projects within the Country Programme. This involves applying theoretical and technical skills in research, data collection, analysis, and presentation of program information. The role requires learning organizational rules and procedures to contribute to the development and formulation of effective child protection strategies. By ensuring efficiency and efficacy in program preparation, planning, and implementation, the officer will help achieve sustainable results, creating a protective environment for children against harm and violence, and promoting their survival, development, and well-being. Success in these programs will enhance UNICEF's credibility and capacity to deliver essential services for mothers and children, fostering greater social equality.

Responsibilities

The Child Protection Officer will support the development and planning of child protection programs, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's goals and country-specific needs. This includes contributing to the formulation of program strategies and work plans. The role involves managing, monitoring, and delivering results for child protection programs, tracking progress, and ensuring timely implementation of activities. Providing technical and operational support to program implementation is crucial, which includes assisting partners and stakeholders in executing project activities effectively. Building and maintaining strong networks and partnerships with government counterparts, NGOs, UN agencies, donors, and other stakeholders is essential for program success. The officer will also drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the child protection sector, sharing best practices and lessons learned. This includes conducting risk analysis, identifying potential risks, assessing their impact, and supporting mitigation measures, including emergency preparedness and program continuity. The role also requires ensuring adherence to PSEA principles and promoting safeguarding standards throughout program implementation.

Work Experience

A minimum of one year of professional experience in social development planning and management, specifically in child protection-related areas, is required.
