Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Supply and Logistics Specialist, the intern will support the team in implementing supply and logistics activities, while developing their knowledge and practical skills in supply chain management, procurement, and logistics operations, in accordance with UNICEF policies and procedures. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic international organization, contributing to UNICEF's mission of serving children worldwide. The intern will be exposed to various aspects of supply chain management, from procurement processes to warehouse management and distribution, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how UNICEF ensures timely and efficient delivery of essential goods and services to children in need.
Responsibilities
1. Support procurement and supply chain operations, including assisting with the preparation of procurement documents and following up on orders.
2. Assist in managing incoming shipments (air and sea), including customs clearance and documentation.
3. Support warehouse and inventory management, including stocktaking, record keeping, and ensuring proper storage conditions.
4. Assist in transportation and distribution activities, coordinating with logistics providers and ensuring timely delivery of supplies.
5. Contribute to data management and reporting, by collecting, organizing, and analyzing supply chain data, and preparing regular reports.
6. Provide administrative support to the supply and logistics team, including scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, and maintaining records.
7. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain function, identifying areas for enhancement and supporting the implementation of new processes.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is strictly required, but relevant academic projects or volunteer experience in logistics, supply chain, or administration would be beneficial.
