Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide support to the UNICEF WASH Specialist in the implementation of the US grant activities. The consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and execution of WASH programmes. This involves offering technical expertise, monitoring progress, ensuring quality assurance, and generating reports. Additionally, the consultant will contribute to capacity development initiatives and provide institutional support to enhance the overall impact and sustainability of the WASH interventions. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to achieving measurable results for children.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for supporting programme planning and coordination, ensuring alignment with grant objectives and UNICEF strategies. This includes assisting in the development of work plans, budgets, and activity schedules. The consultant will provide technical support and expertise in the implementation of WASH activities, particularly in water supply and sanitation construction works. This involves overseeing construction or supervision of water supply and institutional sanitation projects. A key responsibility is monitoring progress, ensuring quality assurance of implemented activities, and preparing regular progress reports for the WASH Specialist and relevant stakeholders. The consultant will also contribute to capacity development efforts for local partners and government counterparts, and provide institutional support to strengthen their ability to manage and sustain WASH initiatives. This includes identifying training needs and facilitating relevant workshops or knowledge sharing sessions.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in WASH programmes is required, with at least 3 years specifically in the construction or supervision of water supply and institutional sanitation construction works. Proven experience in water supply and WASH in institutions projects is essential.
