Job Purpose
The Communication Assistant provides financial, budgetary, and administrative management support to the Communication Section, ensuring effective planning, monitoring, and reporting of the section's activities. This role is crucial in supporting UNICEF's communication efforts in Venezuela, particularly in the context of the recent earthquakes and ongoing humanitarian crisis. The incumbent will assist in managing resources, processing financial transactions, and maintaining accurate records to facilitate the smooth operation of the communication team. This position contributes to UNICEF's mission of advocating for children's rights and ensuring their well-being by supporting the dissemination of vital information and the implementation of communication strategies.
Responsibilities
Under the close supervision of the Communication Specialist, the incumbent provides financial, budgetary and administrative management support to the Communication Section, ensuring effective planning, monitoring, and reporting of the section's activities. This includes managing the section's budget, processing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with UNICEF's financial rules and regulations. The Communication Assistant will also be responsible for administrative tasks such as maintaining records, coordinating meetings, and supporting the procurement of goods and services for the communication section. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the preparation of communication materials, supporting the organization of events, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient workflow and effective communication. The incumbent will contribute to the overall operational efficiency of the Communication Section, enabling it to better support UNICEF's mandate in Venezuela.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in administrative and financial support, preferably in a communication or public relations context. Experience in a UN or international organization is an asset.
