Job Purpose
The consultant will support the design and implementation of the national nutrition CAP survey in Niger. Working under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Specialist and in close collaboration with the National Nutrition Information Platform (PNIN), the role involves analyzing existing data, developing a rigorous methodology, and defining an optimized sampling plan. The consultant will create data collection tools, train enumerators, oversee data collection, and ensure data quality. This position is crucial for gathering essential nutrition data to inform UNICEF's programming and advocacy efforts in Niger, ultimately contributing to improved child health and well-being.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for the comprehensive support of the national nutrition CAP survey in Niger. This includes conducting a thorough documentary analysis of existing data to inform the survey's design. A key responsibility is the development of a rigorous and regionally adapted methodology, including an optimized sampling plan that may involve grouping similar zones. The consultant will also be tasked with developing data collection tools, conducting pre-tests, and organizing and delivering training for enumerators. During the fieldwork phase, the consultant will supervise data collection activities and implement quality control measures in coordination with the national team (PNIN, DN, and UNICEF). Finally, the consultant will perform statistical and qualitative analysis of the collected data, produce a comprehensive report with practical recommendations, and organize validation and dissemination workshops with national stakeholders to ensure ownership of the survey findings.
Work Experience
Minimum of eight years of experience in designing, conducting, supervising, and analyzing CAP or similar surveys. Proven experience in nutrition, public health, child nutrition and care (ANJE), social and behavior change, or multisectoral nutrition approaches. Experience in developing protocols, sampling plans, data collection tools, and quality control mechanisms is required.
