Job Purpose
Under the close supervision of the Communication Specialist in Gaza and technical guidance from the Chief of Communication in East Jerusalem, this role provides essential information gathering, monitoring, technical, and administrative support for Communications, Advocacy, and Partnerships activities. The position contributes to the efficient functioning of the Communication Section by collaborating with internal staff and external partners in Gaza. Key functions include supporting communication planning and execution, ensuring smooth service delivery, and assisting in managing programme results to maintain momentum and achieve objectives. The role is crucial for enhancing UNICEF's reach and engagement with its audience, fostering important conversations about children's rights and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
Support communication planning and execution by collecting information, conducting interviews with beneficiaries and partners for human-interest stories, photo essays, videos, and social media posts. Assist in organizing public support for events and preparing communication materials for media, goodwill ambassadors, donors, and other stakeholders, including logistical and administrative arrangements. Update content on UNICEF's social media platforms (website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) in English and Arabic. Foster and maintain close collaboration with mass media and relevant organizations to support advocacy, partnership, and communication goals. Support communication service delivery by liaising with contractors (photographers, video crews, translators, designers, printers), assisting in the preparation, production, and editing of communication assets, and overseeing qualitative aspects of production. Review communication products for quality control and adherence to UNICEF standards. Monitor the timely dissemination of advocacy and communication materials. Maintain a documentation center for publications, press releases, clippings, and a photo/audio-visual library. Assist in managing programme results by processing payments, following up on cash advances and budget liquidation, summarizing data on obligations and budgetary implications, and preparing records for monitoring communication strategy implementation. Provide administrative and clerical support, scrutinize plans of operations, and follow up on requests for assistance. May perform specific administrative operational tasks for project activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in communication, public relations, advocacy, or a related field is required. Experience in a UN or international organization is an asset.
