Job Purpose
The Finance Associate will be responsible for providing a variety of specialized tasks in finance functions, ensuring accurate and timely delivery in compliance with UNICEF financial rules and regulations. This role requires the capacity to research, adapt, and evaluate irregular cases, and to recommend improvements to process delivery and design. The incumbent will support the Health Section of the UNICEF Nigeria Country Office (NCO) in rolling out child survival interventions by managing financial aspects related to programs like HOPE and Polio. The aim is to contribute to reducing high rates of maternal, infant, and child mortality, and poor child development in Nigeria through efficient financial management and support.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager and strategic leadership of the Polio Team Lead, the Senior Finance Associate will assist in verifying the completeness and accuracy of all aspects related to HOPE payment plan/HEALTH related requests. This includes compiling data, responding to queries, confirming fund transfers, making adjustments for financial compliance, and ensuring data accuracy for payment runs. The role involves updating and maintaining payment records and monitoring systems for reconciliation of payments and balances related to HOPE Polio Program activities. Data entry from various documents, verification, and ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls are key. The associate will prepare recurring and special reports for budget preparation and audits, and assist in finalizing payments for year-end close, grant expiry, and financial closure. Liaising with GSSC and FSPs to address queries and correct transactions, and working closely with selected FSPs to monitor payment and reporting processes are also crucial. Initiating correspondence to verify data and obtain information on the HOPE Platform for payment efficiency, and maintaining liaison with local banks for daily financial information, including bank reconciliations, will be performed. The role also includes preparing cost estimates, participating in budget analysis, and performing other HEALTH section related finance duties.
Work Experience
At least 7 years of relevant work experience in Financial Management, Accounting, and any other related fields.
