Job Purpose
The Finance and Accounts Assistant is responsible for executing a broad variety of budget and transactional/financial tasks for the respective section(s) requiring thorough knowledge of UNICEF budget and financial procedures, processes, and systems. This role supports the efficient and effective financial management of UNICEF's operations in Venezuela, particularly in the context of an L2 Emergency due to earthquakes. The assistant will ensure timely and accurate financial support to all sectors and internal team activities, contributing to the overall humanitarian response and the implementation of the UNICEF Venezuela Country Programme Document (CPD). The position is crucial for maintaining financial integrity and supporting the delivery of essential services to children and communities.
Responsibilities
The Finance and Accounts Assistant will be responsible for executing a variety of budget and transactional/financial tasks. This includes maintaining financial records, processing payments, reconciling accounts, and assisting with budget monitoring and reporting. The role requires a thorough understanding of UNICEF's financial procedures, processes, and systems to ensure compliance and accuracy. The assistant will support the Finance and Budget team in managing day-to-day financial activities, ensuring the smooth delivery of services across all sectors. This involves preparing financial statements, assisting with audits, and providing financial information to management. Additionally, the role will contribute to the financial aspects of the UNICEF Venezuela CPD, which focuses on technical cooperation, capacity building, supply delivery, and communication strategies in Nutrition, Health, WASH, Protection, and Education. The assistant will play a key role in supporting the humanitarian response to the earthquake, ensuring financial resources are managed effectively to assist vulnerable populations.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in finance, accounting, or a related field is required. Experience in an international organization or UN system is an asset.
