Job Purpose
The Driver provides essential reliable and safe driving services, ensuring strict adherence to local traffic regulations and UNICEF's operational protocols. This role demands the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, integrity, adaptability, and awareness of protocol. Beyond driving, the Driver is expected to actively support administrative tasks and engage in continuous self-directed learning during periods without driving duties. A client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds are crucial for success in this position.
Responsibilities
Provide safe and reliable transportation for UNICEF staff and authorized personnel, ensuring punctuality and adherence to schedules. Ensure the vehicle is kept clean, in good working condition, and properly maintained, including regular checks of oil, water, tires, and brakes. Comply with all local traffic laws, regulations, and UNICEF security protocols at all times. Maintain a logbook of all vehicle usage, including mileage, fuel consumption, and destinations. Assist with basic administrative tasks as required, such as collecting and delivering documents, mail, and packages. Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents immediately to the supervisor. Plan routes efficiently, considering traffic conditions and security advisories. Demonstrate a high level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information. Be available for travel to remote areas and field locations as needed. Undertake self-development and learning activities during downtime to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role and UNICEF's mission.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of experience as a driver is required, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or the UN system, with a proven safe driving record.
