Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Chief of Child Protection, the Programme Officer will support the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Selo UNICEF and Agenda Cidade UNICEF initiatives. This role is crucial for strengthening municipal governance and accountability for children's rights by fostering partnerships with governments and stakeholders, facilitating programme execution, tracking progress, promoting knowledge sharing, and supporting evidence-based decision-making. The position directly contributes to achieving UNICEF Brazil Country Programme outcomes by enhancing local capacities, promoting intersectoral collaboration, advocating for child-centred public policies, and accelerating equitable results for children and adolescents across participating municipalities.
Responsibilities
The Programme Officer will be responsible for supporting programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and country programme outcomes. This includes contributing to the formulation of programme strategies and work plans. The incumbent will manage, monitor, and ensure the delivery of results for assigned programmes, tracking progress against key performance indicators and making necessary adjustments. Providing technical and operational support to programme implementation is a key function, ensuring that activities are carried out effectively and efficiently. Building and maintaining strong networks and partnerships with government entities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders is essential for programme success. Furthermore, the role involves driving innovation, managing knowledge, and building capacity among partners and staff to enhance programme effectiveness and sustainability. This includes facilitating intersectoral collaboration, mobilizing stakeholders, and fostering collective accountability for achieving results for children.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in programme management, local governance, public policy, social development, and municipal development is required. Experience in planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on development programmes, working with municipalities and public institutions, and supporting stakeholder engagement and capacity-building initiatives is also necessary.
