Job Purpose

The consultant will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive supply and financing landscaping analysis for Balanced Energy Protein (BEP) for Maternal Nutrition in Nigeria. This involves a desk review and industry mapping to understand the current landscape, followed by stakeholder and private sector engagement to collect relevant data. The consultant will then conduct state and national validation with concerned stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the findings. The ultimate goal is to provide integrated feasibility assessments by synthesizing demand, supply, and financing insights, which will inform strategies for improving maternal nutrition through BEP supplementation. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to design and implement financial feasibility studies.

Responsibilities

The consultant will undertake a thorough desk review and industry mapping to identify key players, existing supply chains, and financing mechanisms related to maternal nutrition and BEP in Nigeria. This will be followed by extensive stakeholder and private sector engagement, including food producers and distributors, to gather data on supply capacity, market dynamics, and potential financing opportunities. The consultant will design and implement financial feasibility studies, including costing scenarios, Return on Investment (ROI) projections, and business model evaluations relevant to nutrition interventions. They will synthesize demand, supply, and financing insights into integrated feasibility assessments. The consultant will also be responsible for state and national validation with concerned stakeholders to ensure the findings are robust and actionable. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are required to proactively establish and maintain working relations, promote synergies with other stakeholders, and present findings effectively. The consultant must be able to work independently and systematically, taking initiative and demonstrating problem-solving, quantitative, and analytical skills, coupled with strategic and creative thinking. Reporting and presentation skills are crucial for collaborating with other experts and communicating ideas both in writing and orally.

Work Experience

Minimum 10 years of experience working in maternal and child nutrition policy and programming.
