Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Communication Specialist, NO-C, the Communication Officer, NO-A is expected to support the UNICEF Education programme team in communication efforts related to the EU Advancing Quality Education and Lifelong Learning Opportunities for All Programme. This role will also support in ensuring the visibility of UNICEF Moldova interventions. In an era of greater transparency and authenticity, social media and online communication are rapidly delivering a new standard of interaction between people, advocating for child rights, and changing behaviours. The Communication Officer will play a key role in promoting the reconceptualization of the teachers’ and school leaders’ professional development system, life-long learning opportunities, inclusivity of education, digital pedagogy, and modernization efforts in model schools.

Responsibilities

The Communication Officer will provide support in ensuring visibility of UNICEF Moldova interventions within the EU Advancing Quality Education and Lifelong Learning Opportunities for All Programme. Key responsibilities include promoting the reconceptualization of the teachers’ and school leaders’ professional development system and ensuring support for the newly created National Institute of Education and Leadership. The role involves promoting life-long learning opportunities and continuous professional development, increasing awareness on the need to ensure inclusivity of education and offer qualitative education services for children with disabilities and special education needs, and promoting digital pedagogy and STEEAM skills. The officer will also ensure visibility of modernization efforts (including accessibility) in 10 model schools. All visibility and communication content, including printed materials, posters, and banners, will be coordinated closely with the EU and aligned with EU communication and visibility guidelines. The role also involves developing and drafting communication products and materials, maintaining contact information, materials, and relationships with journalists and media outlets, and undertaking regular monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country communication efforts.

Work Experience

One year of practical professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media is required. Field work experience and familiarity or background with emergency situations is also required.
