Job Purpose

The Supply and Logistics Officer will provide essential technical and operational support to UNICEF's supply chain operations in Venezuela, particularly in response to the recent earthquakes. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely and effective delivery of supplies and services to children and communities affected by the emergency. The officer will manage various aspects of the supply chain, including planning, procurement, customs clearance, warehousing, and distribution. By collaborating with programme sections and implementing partners, the incumbent will ensure that supply interventions align with programmatic needs and contribute to achieving positive results for children. Furthermore, the role involves providing advisory services to government and national systems on supply chain management, strengthening local capacity and promoting sustainable practices in emergency response and recovery efforts.

Responsibilities

The Supply and Logistics Officer is responsible for supporting the Supply and Logistics Specialist in managing the supply chain for a country office or specific components of a larger operation. This includes overseeing planning, procurement, contracting, and customs clearance processes to ensure the efficient flow of goods and services. The incumbent will manage warehousing and in-country transportation, ensuring that supplies are stored safely and distributed effectively to reach beneficiaries. A key responsibility is the monitoring of supplies, services, and construction works to ensure quality and timely delivery. The officer will collaborate closely with programme sections to define supply interventions that meet programmatic needs and contribute to achieving results for children. Additionally, the role involves providing technical and advisory support to government and national systems on supply chain management, enhancing their capacity to respond to emergencies. The officer will also contribute to innovation in products and markets, seeking more efficient and effective ways to deliver supplies and services. Supervision of the supply team is also a key accountability, ensuring effective team performance and development.

Work Experience

A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience at the national and international levels in supply chain management, logistics, procurement, or related fields is required.
