Job Purpose

The Logistics Associate, under the direct supervision of the Supply and Logistics Specialist, is responsible for supporting the continuous provision of affordable and high-quality supplies and services. This role ensures that all logistical operations are carried out in strict compliance with UNICEF’s policies, procedures, and ethical standards, tailored to the specific context of operations. The position plays a crucial role in managing the flow of goods from procurement to delivery, ensuring timely and efficient distribution to beneficiaries. The associate will contribute to the overall effectiveness of UNICEF's supply chain, directly impacting the organization's ability to deliver essential services and support to children and communities worldwide. This involves meticulous attention to detail in clearance, in-country logistics, warehouse management, and reporting.

Responsibilities

The Logistics Associate will be responsible for the clearance of incoming goods, ensuring all necessary documentation complies with export and import regulations and issuing Letters of Authority (LoA) in a timely manner. They will closely monitor the clearance process, address any issues, and ensure adherence to customs regulations. In-country logistics involve initiating requests for freight forwarders, coordinating pick-up and delivery, tracking shipments in real-time, and confirming safe and timely delivery. Support for warehouse and inventory management includes accurately recording goods movement, promoting good warehouse practices, supervising receipt and dispatch, preparing stock reports, conducting physical inventory counts, and preparing documentation for commodity disposal. The associate will also track supplies nearing expiration and ensure compliance with FIFO/FEFO principles. Reporting and monitoring responsibilities include ensuring all logistics movements are reported according to UNICEF guidelines, monitoring contractor performance, tracking Key Performance Indicators, identifying bottlenecks, and maintaining monitoring tools for real-time tracking and reporting to management and Programme Sections.

Work Experience

A minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is required. Experience in international organizations or humanitarian contexts is an asset.
