The UNICEF Ecuador country office is currently implementing new ECHO-funded and KOICA-funded projects focused on holistic community protection and preventing chronic childhood malnutrition.
Job Purpose
Under the close supervision and guidance of the supervisor, the Programme Assistant supports the section by carrying out a range of procedural, administrative, and operational tasks. This role is crucial for developing, implementing, and monitoring the country programme, ensuring timely and effective delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations. The Programme Assistant will contribute to the overall success of UNICEF's mission in Ecuador by providing essential support across various programmatic and operational functions, ultimately helping to protect the rights of every child, especially the most disadvantaged and those hardest to reach.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant will provide comprehensive support to the section, encompassing Programme & Project Support, Administrative & Financial Support, and Operations and Travel Support. This includes assisting with the coordination of administrative and logistics tasks, as well as event planning. The role also involves contributing to Knowledge Management & Communication efforts and demonstrating Digital Dexterity. The Programme Assistant must be adaptable and capable of providing Emergency Support & Flexibility when needed. Key duties include managing documentation, processing requests, tracking project activities, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth programme implementation. The position requires meticulous attention to detail in financial and administrative processes, adherence to UNICEF rules and regulations, and proactive problem-solving to overcome operational challenges.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant administrative or clerical work experience is required. Experience in grant oversight, financial and program administration, procurement, and event planning is highly desirable.
