Job Purpose
The People & Culture Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective administration of personnel benefits and entitlements for UNICEF staff worldwide, adhering strictly to organizational policies and procedures. This position is vital for strengthening HR operations and maintaining the integrity of benefits and entitlements for all personnel. By processing complex cases, providing accurate guidance, and maintaining HR systems, the Associate ensures that staff receive the correct support and information regarding their employment status, benefits, and entitlements. This role contributes directly to the smooth functioning of HR services, enabling UNICEF to focus on its core mission of serving children.
Responsibilities
The People & Culture Associate is responsible for determining and processing appropriate staff entitlements and appointments, handling complex transactions in various systems in compliance with UNICEF’s rules and regulations. They provide accurate guidance to staff on HR policies and procedures, analyze non-compliant cases in consultation with supervisors, and review transactions before payroll submission. A key duty is ensuring timely and appropriate actions for staff benefits and entitlements. The Associate also maintains computerized HR reporting systems, verifying information for monthly and bi-monthly reports to ensure accurate salary processing. Furthermore, they are tasked with training other staff on entitlements and processes, disseminating information on HR updates, and providing knowledge transfer to junior staff. Coordination with various UN System divisions is also part of the role, involving gathering and disseminating information to address staff queries and performing ad hoc responsibilities as assigned by the People & Culture Officer.
Work Experience
A minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience in human resources is required. A completed university degree can count towards this experience. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree need a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience. A Master's degree may substitute for two additional years of experience. Previous hands-on experience in planning, organizing, and delivering administrative support services is highly desirable.
