Job Purpose
The consultant will aim to generate specialized technical inputs that contribute to strengthening applicable instruments in the water and sanitation sector in Ecuador. This will be achieved through diagnosing and analyzing the current technical framework, identifying gaps, challenges, and improvement opportunities. The consultant will also develop a regional compendium of viable technologies for water supply and sanitation, incorporating conventional and innovative solutions, nature-based solutions (NbS), and alternatives adapted to the country's diverse geographical, climatic, and socioeconomic characteristics. A specific section will address rainwater harvesting, storage, treatment, and utilization as a complementary source for various uses, including human consumption under appropriate technical and sanitary conditions.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for diagnosing and analyzing the current technical framework for water and sanitation in Ecuador. This includes identifying existing gaps, challenges, and opportunities for improvement in the sector. A key responsibility will be the development of a regional compendium of viable technologies for water supply and sanitation. This compendium must integrate both conventional and innovative technologies, as well as nature-based solutions (NbS). Furthermore, the consultant will ensure that the compendium includes alternative solutions tailored to the specific geographical, climatic, and socioeconomic conditions of different regions within Ecuador. A dedicated section will focus on rainwater harvesting, covering its collection, storage, treatment, and utilization as a complementary water source, particularly for human consumption, ensuring appropriate technical and sanitary standards are met. The consultant may also be involved in the elaboration, analysis, or updating of norms, guidelines, regulations, or technical guides related to water and sanitation.
Work Experience
Minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in water supply, sanitation, or water resources. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in designing water supply technologies, treatment of water for human consumption, rural sanitation, and/or nature-based solutions.
Skills
