Job Purpose

The consultant will coordinate the planning, execution, and monitoring of program activities, ensuring alignment with expected results, indicators, and deadlines. This role involves facilitating sectoral and intersectoral coordination among government institutions, UNICEF, the African Development Bank, development partners, and non-state actors. The consultant will support the management of institutional, organizational, and regulatory reforms outlined in the program. A key aspect is contributing to monitoring and evaluation, capitalizing on best practices, and ensuring high-quality program reporting. The position also requires ensuring the cross-cutting integration of gender, inclusion, climate change, child protection, and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) into all program interventions, alongside producing narrative and financial reports.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the planning, execution, and monitoring of program activities, ensuring alignment with expected results, indicators, and defined timelines. Facilitate sectoral and intersectoral coordination among government institutions, UNICEF, the African Development Bank, development partners, and non-state actors. Support the management of institutional, organizational, and regulatory reforms planned within the program framework. Contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes, capitalize on best practices, and ensure high-quality program reporting. Ensure the cross-cutting integration of gender, inclusion, climate change, child protection, and the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) into all program interventions. Produce narrative and financial reports in accordance with predefined deadlines. This includes developing policy documents, technical analyses, and high-quality development products applied to water policy, sanitation, infrastructure, or related fields. The consultant will also be responsible for capacity building and developing policy and strategy documents, demonstrating expertise in water, hygiene, and sanitation (WASH) sector resilience to climate change.

Work Experience

At least 5 years of experience in project management for water, hygiene, and sanitation (WASH), policies and strategies in drinking water, hygiene, and sanitation, and systems strengthening. Proven expertise in project coordination and management, WASH sector, infrastructure resilience to climate change, diagnostics and evaluation in WASH, capacity building, and developing policy/strategy documents.
