Job Purpose
The ongoing Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in DRC poses a significant cross-border risk to Rwanda. UNICEF Rwanda, in line with the Government-led preparedness approach, is supporting national efforts to strengthen Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC) systems to prevent and respond to a potential outbreak. Current priorities include strengthening IPC in healthcare facilities, scaling up WASH services, enhancing community-based preparedness, and ensuring continuity of essential services. To support these efforts, UNICEF plans to engage an experienced individual consultant to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health (MoH)/Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), line government agencies and partners at the national and sub-nationals in strengthening WASH and IPC preparedness, prevention, and response capacities for EVD.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health (MoH)/Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), line government agencies, and partners at national and sub-national levels in strengthening WASH and IPC preparedness, prevention, and response capacities for EVD. This includes supporting the development and implementation of strategies, guidelines, and action plans. The consultant will also contribute to scaling up WASH services, enhancing community-based preparedness, and ensuring the continuity of essential services during a potential outbreak. This role requires working effectively in cross-cultural and multi-cultural settings and teams, collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the EVD preparedness and response efforts in Rwanda.
Work Experience
At least eight years’ experience in the WASH sector, especially in public health emergencies such as Ebola, Marburg, or similar outbreak response.
