Job Purpose
The Humanitarian Communication and Advocacy Specialist will provide regional and country-level communication and advocacy support for the Ebola response from the West and Central Africa Regional Office (WCARO) in Dakar. This role involves conducting analyses of the context and influencing landscape relevant to the Ebola response, developing and maintaining stakeholder mapping and engagement strategies, and creating and supporting the implementation of Ebola communication and advocacy strategies for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The specialist will also support the coordination of advocacy materials, identify evidence gaps to strengthen evidence-based advocacy, and monitor progress, producing regular reports. Additionally, the position will involve producing communication content for various formats and channels, ensuring messaging consistency, and contributing to a coherent regional narrative and advocacy actions.
Responsibilities
Conduct context and influencing landscape analysis relevant to the Ebola response. Develop and maintain stakeholder mapping and engagement strategies. Develop and support the implementation of Ebola Communication/Advocacy strategies for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Support the coordination of advocacy materials, including talking points, briefing notes, and messaging packages. Identify evidence gaps and strengthen evidence-based advocacy approaches. Monitor communication and advocacy progress and produce regular reports. Produce capacity building and coaching for DRC country office teams remotely and during missions. Produce communication content for multiple formats and channels, including social media posts, press releases, human interest stories, and virtual field visit packages. Ensure consistency and quality of messaging across regional and country levels, contributing to communication and advocacy efforts in DRC and neighboring countries during the preparedness phase. Contribute to the development of a coherent regional narrative. Support the coordination of advocacy actions between WCARO, DRC Country Office, GCCA, and EMOPS.
Work Experience
Advanced expertise in humanitarian communication, advocacy, and/or diplomacy. Experience in public health emergencies, particularly Ebola or similar outbreaks.
