Job Purpose

The consultancy aims to support Social and Behavior Change (SBC) interventions in health and education within Uzbekistan. The consultant will work with UNICEF, UN agencies, and national partners on initiatives focused on areas such as WASH in schools and inclusive education. This role involves developing and implementing communication strategies and materials to drive positive behavior change related to health and WASH practices. The consultant will contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of UNICEF's programs by applying expertise in communication and behavioral science to address critical child-related issues in the country, ensuring that interventions are evidence-based and culturally appropriate.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive Social and Behavior Change (SBC) strategies for health and education interventions, focusing on WASH in schools and inclusive education. Create targeted multimedia communication materials, including mass media campaigns and interpersonal communication (IPC) guides, tailored to diverse health-related issues and specific target audiences. Apply behavioral theories, such as the socio-ecological model, to address WASH challenges, including promoting handwashing with soap and safe water storage practices. Collaborate with UN agencies, national partners, and local communities to ensure effective program delivery and community engagement. Monitor and evaluate the impact of SBC interventions, providing regular reports on progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement. Contribute to capacity building of national partners in SBC approaches. Ensure all communication materials and interventions align with UNICEF's mandate, values, and child protection policies. Support the integration of SBC components into broader UNICEF country programs and initiatives. Conduct research and analysis to inform SBC strategy development and program design. Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning among stakeholders regarding best practices in SBC for health and education.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in communication, including health/WASH communication and social behavior change interventions. Work experience at UN agencies is considered an asset.
