Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide strategic communications and visibility support to UNICEF Türkiye in preparation for and during COP31. This role is crucial for ensuring that children’s rights and youth participation are effectively positioned within the climate agenda. The consultant will develop and implement communication strategies, create compelling content, and engage with media and stakeholders to amplify UNICEF's message. This position requires a proactive and creative individual who can work independently and collaboratively to achieve impactful results in a dynamic international event setting.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive communications and visibility strategy for UNICEF Türkiye's engagement in COP31, focusing on children's rights and youth participation in climate action. Create high-quality, engaging content, including press releases, social media posts, talking points, and advocacy materials tailored for various audiences. Manage media relations, identify key opportunities for coverage, and facilitate interviews. Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent messaging and branding. Support the preparation of high-level advocacy and communications materials for senior leadership. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication activities. Ensure all communications align with UNICEF's brand guidelines and values. Provide strategic advice on visibility opportunities and stakeholder engagement throughout the COP31 process. Contribute to storytelling efforts that highlight the impact of climate change on children and the importance of their voices in climate solutions.
Work Experience
Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in strategic communications, public advocacy, or media relations. Demonstrated experience in developing communications strategies for major international events or global advocacy initiatives. Proven experience in preparing high-level advocacy materials and experience working remotely with multicultural teams.
