Job Purpose

The Social Policy Specialist will provide technical support for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of social policy programs and advocacy. This includes work on public policies to reduce child poverty, strengthen social protection, improve child-focused public investments, and enhance governance and accountability for social services. The role involves direct program work with partners and collaboration with teams focused on education, health, child protection, water and sanitation, and HIV, aiming to accelerate progress towards realizing the human rights of all children and supporting equitable development.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include improving data on child poverty and vulnerability for policy and program action, strengthening social protection coverage and impact for children, and enhancing the use of public financial resources for children. The specialist will also focus on strengthening the capacity of local governments in planning, budgeting, consulting on, and monitoring child-focused social services. Additionally, the role involves strengthening advocacy and partnerships for child-sensitive social policy and managing UNICEF programs effectively. This encompasses providing technical expertise across various stages of program development and implementation, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's equity strategy and mandate to promote children's rights.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in child poverty, social protection, public finance, budget analysis, decentralization, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, advocacy, strategic planning, delivery, or financial management is required.
