Job Purpose

The purpose of this consultancy is to support the UNICEF Syria Country Office and the Ministry of Health in strengthening evidence-based programming to address child malnutrition. The assignment will focus on analyzing nutrition trends and translating complex data into clear, actionable insights. The consultant will conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis of nutrition indicators from the SMART 2023 and SMART 2025 surveys, presenting findings through innovative, visually compelling formats such as infographics tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences. Building on this analysis, the consultant will develop strategic, evidence-based recommendations to support national efforts to reverse the rising trend of wasting in Syria, thereby informing nutrition programming.

Responsibilities

Conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis of all indicators assessed in SMART 2023 and SMART 2025 surveys. Summarize the outcome of the analysis using compelling state-of-the-art visual methods and infographics to inform a communication strategy targeting diverse audiences, including non-technical people. Based on the above analysis, formulate strategic and actionable recommendations for Syria to reverse the trend of wasting prevalence. Support the UNICEF Syria Country Office and the Ministry of Health in strengthening evidence-based programming to address child malnutrition. Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. Present findings through innovative, visually compelling formats such as infographics. Develop strategic, evidence-based recommendations to support national efforts to reverse the rising trend of wasting in Syria.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting primary data collection or secondary data analysis and documenting public health and nutrition work at national and international level. Consultant must have authored at least two high-quality secondary data analysis or research reports, at least two of them being related to nutrition programming. Demonstrates excellent writing skills, and strong communication, in particular for the development of technical documents. Demonstrates experience and knowledge of the latest developments and issues related to public health nutrition.
