Job Purpose
The Driver provides essential, reliable, and safe transportation services, ensuring strict adherence to local traffic laws and UNICEF's operational protocols. This role demands a high level of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and adaptability. Drivers are expected to maintain vehicle readiness through routine care and maintenance, utilize digital tools for tracking and reporting, and support office operations during non-driving periods. They must demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, and a strong sense of responsibility, effectively interacting with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds while maintaining readiness for emergency situations.
Responsibilities
Provide safe and reliable driving services, adhering to all traffic laws and UNICEF protocols, especially in potentially hazardous conditions. Conduct daily pre-trip inspections, routine vehicle maintenance, and ensure the vehicle is clean and in good working order, reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Accurately log all trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and other relevant data using designated digital tools and tracking systems. Maintain trip documentation and prepare reports as required. Ensure communication equipment is functional and be prepared for emergency situations, responding calmly and effectively. Support office operations by assisting with deliveries, pick-ups, and other administrative tasks during periods of low driving demand. Demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, and a high sense of responsibility in all interactions. Maintain a safe driving record and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, and integrity at all times. Engage in self-directed learning to enhance driving skills, safety knowledge, and understanding of local conditions.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience as a driver, preferably with experience in armoured vehicles, within an international organization, embassy, or UN system, is required. A proven safe driving record is mandatory.
