Job Purpose

The Nutrition Officer (First Food) provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process of nutrition programs/projects related to improving children's diets through the First Food approach within the Country Programme, from development planning to achievement of results. This involves undertaking diverse technical and administrative program tasks to facilitate program development, implementation, progress monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of results. The role aims to contribute to improving the nutrition of children and women in Madagascar by providing technical and strategic leadership for designing, implementing, and monitoring quality nutrition interventions, with a focus on the First Food program and nutrition value chain approaches.

Responsibilities

1. Support program development and planning: Contribute to the analysis of the nutritional situation, strategic planning, and program design, particularly the First Food program, while ensuring technical and administrative support at various stages of programming, results-based planning, and approval processes. 2. Program management, monitoring, and results delivery: Monitor the implementation of activities, resource utilization, and program performance, coordinating with partners, identifying challenges, proposing solutions, and preparing reports for management, donors, and partners. 3. Technical and operational support for program implementation: Provide technical and operational support to government partners, NGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders, including through field missions, to enhance the quality of program implementation and quickly resolve encountered difficulties. 4. Networking and partnership development: Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with national institutions, technical and financial partners, and UN agencies, while contributing to advocacy, resource mobilization, and coordination of nutrition initiatives. 5. Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building: Promote innovation, document and share best practices, support knowledge production, and contribute to partner capacity building to sustainably improve the quality and impact of nutrition programs.

Work Experience

At least 2 years of professional experience in a developing country in one or more of the following areas is required: nutrition, agriculture, food science/food technology, agribusiness.
