Job Purpose
The Adolescent and HIV/AIDS Specialist will report to the Chief Youth and Adolescents Development, P4, for guidance and general supervision. This role will provide support to country office colleagues and internal and external partners and stakeholders throughout the programming processes. The specialist will offer technical, administrative, and operational support to ensure that adolescent development and participation and child rights, as established under the Convention on the Rights of the Child and international treaties, are integrated into UNICEF's advocacy policies, programmes, and humanitarian work. The position contributes to achieving concrete and sustainable results on adolescent development-related programmes and projects, aligning with UNICEF's mission to promote the rights of every child, everywhere.
Responsibilities
Provide technical, administrative, and operational support to country office colleagues, internal and external partners, and stakeholders throughout the programming processes. Ensure that adolescent development and participation and child rights, as established under the Convention on the Rights of the Child, international treaties/framework, and UN intergovernmental bodies, are integrated into UNICEF's advocacy policies, programmes, and humanitarian work. Contribute to the achievement of concrete and sustainable results on adolescent development-related programmes/projects. Support the Chief Youth and Adolescents Development in developing and implementing strategies for adolescent HIV/AIDS prevention and support programmes. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes, providing recommendations for improvement. Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building among partners on adolescent health and HIV/AIDS issues. Represent UNICEF in relevant forums and working groups related to adolescent health and HIV/AIDS. Ensure compliance with UNICEF's policies and procedures in all aspects of work.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in programme management or coordination in the field of adolescent health, HIV/AIDS, or related areas is required. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is an asset.
