Organizational Context
The Health Officer (Knowledge Management) works within the UNICEF China Country Office, specifically in the Health and Nutrition section. This role reports to the Chief of Health and Nutrition, contributing to the country office's efforts in health and nutrition programmes.
Job Purpose
The Health Officer (Knowledge Management) is responsible for enhancing UNICEF China's capacity in generating, documenting, and utilizing evidence related to Health and Nutrition programmes. This role aims to improve the use of evidence in programming and policy engagement by working collaboratively across different teams. The officer will also focus on ensuring quality assurance, building capacity within the organization, and fostering strategic partnerships in the field of knowledge management. A key aspect of this role involves leveraging technology for systematic storage and dissemination of knowledge, ensuring that valuable insights and data from health and nutrition initiatives are effectively captured and made accessible to inform future strategies and interventions for children's well-being in China.
Responsibilities
The Health Officer (Knowledge Management) will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for knowledge management within the Health and Nutrition section. This includes establishing systems for collecting, organizing, and storing programme data, research findings, and best practices. The officer will facilitate the dissemination of knowledge products through various channels, such as reports, presentations, and online platforms, to ensure they reach relevant stakeholders, including government partners, NGOs, and UNICEF staff. A significant part of the role involves capacity building, providing training and guidance to colleagues on knowledge management tools and methodologies. The officer will also play a crucial role in promoting a culture of learning and evidence-based decision-making within the country office. This includes identifying knowledge gaps, supporting research initiatives, and ensuring that lessons learned from ongoing programmes are integrated into future planning. Furthermore, the Health Officer will contribute to the development of strategic partnerships related to knowledge management and explore innovative technological solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of knowledge sharing and utilization for improved child health outcomes in China.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in health programme management, knowledge management, or a related area. Experience in developing countries, particularly in East Asia and the Pacific, is an asset. Experience with UNICEF or other UN agencies is desirable.
