Job Purpose
The consultancy aims to support the Government of Nepal's National Planning Commission (NPC) in a joint project with the United Nations and the World Bank. This initiative focuses on ensuring universal access to social protection and creating decent, productive jobs. It emphasizes practical action and collaboration to strengthen social protection systems and support vulnerable populations during crises and regular development situations. The consultant, based at NPC, will play a key role in implementing the integrated National Social Protection Framework, working in collaboration with NPC and UNICEF to advance these critical goals for the well-being of children and communities.
Responsibilities
The consultant, based at the National Planning Commission (NPC), will focus on major social protection initiatives led by NPC. Key responsibilities include:
* Developing an individual work plan in consultation with NPC and UNICEF for the assignment period.
* Providing day-to-day support to NPC's social protection-related work.
* Facilitating the finalization of the SDG Roadmap on social protection and jobs.
* Guiding and collaborating with consultants responsible for developing the Action Plan for the Integrated National Social Protection Framework.
* Coordinating and supporting the consultant tasked with developing a monitoring and evaluation framework.
* Preparing follow-up actions from the SSA Evaluation, coordinating with DONIDCR, organizing workshops, and preparing workshop reports.
* Reviewing the Integrated National Social Protection Framework and proposing ministry-specific prioritized actions.
* Guiding the development of a practical and implementable action plan for social protection.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in social protection, social policy, programme coordination, or a related area. Experience working with government counterparts and international organizations is desirable.
